All of our dogs weigh around 9 pounds with an average length of 30" (from the tip of their tail to the tip of their nose).  Their bone structure is between fine to average.  Each of our females have an average bone structure for a miniature dachshund and our chocolate/tan male has a slightly finer bone structure than our black/tan male and stays on the leaner side.  The puppies we have been producing have topped out at 9 pounds, carry a traditional bone structure and have strong contrasted markings, typical of the miniature dachshund breed.

Our puppies are sold first by health (quality and temperament) and second by color. Every puppy not only comes with their worming/vaccinations but comes with their registration papers too (AKC/CKC).  We don't believe that we should dictate whether or not you can own the registration of your dog or demand that you spay/neuter.  But we do believe that being a good dog owner comes with great responsability, and making right decisions, is your responsability.

Meet the adults

North Country Kennels is located just out side of the Hamlet of Holbein, surrounded by forest and nestled in the jack pines, 20 minutes west of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada. Because the naturally unique surroundings are a part of our daily lives, we have named each of our dachshunds after the trees and bushes of the forest of which we live.

North Country's Little Jack Pine (Jack)
is a black/tan ACA registered proven male with a very nice disposition.  One of Jack's most notable attributes is his care-taker personality and ability to learn quickly.  An additional bonus is his desire to do the right thing, which is a positive attribute since he learns so quickly.  Jack is out of a black/tan sire and a dapple black/tan female (from Davidson, Saskatchewan, Canada).

North Country's Mighty Oak (Wally)
is a handsome chocolate/tan AKC, CKC double registered proven male with all the appropriate "chocolate" markings.  He is fun loving, personable and definitely a little people pleaser.  He has a very unique mark (cowlick) that runs down the back of his head and neck, likened to the ridge on a Rhodesian Ridgeback.  Wally was imported from Idaho Falls, Idaho, U.S.A., out of a black/tan sire and chocolate/tan dapple dam.  He carries cream, red, black/tan and chocolate.

North Country's Pagoda Blue (Goda) is a beautiful little light (dilute) colored blue/tan AKC, CKC double registered female with all kinds of character.  Goda has a spit-fire personality and is full of life, typical of miniature dachshunds.  She comes to North Country Kennels from Bakersfield, California, U.S.A.  It will be a while before she will be old enough to breed but she is full of enthusiastic promise.

North Country's Sandy Aspen (Sandy) is a lovely little light (dilute) colored fawn/tan AKC, CKC double registered female with a soft and quiet nature.  Sandy would prefer to sit quietly on your lap than to kick her heels up while running circles around the yard.  Although active and full of life; snuggling is what she lives for.  Sandy also comes to North Country Kennels from Bakersfield, California, U.S.A. and will be old enough to breed in the fall of 2010.

North Country's Tia Beau (Beau)
is a quiet black/tan AKC, CKC double registered female.  Beau has been bred to Wally, North Country's chocolate/tan male and is scheduled to whelp mid October.  Beau is another lap sitter, forever jockeying for a prefered position.  Inasmuch as Beau is in good condition she isn't one to chase around.  Beau is better described as calm, quiet and observent, who looks forward to her daily walks.  (The photograph on the right side was taken on September 23rd, 2009.)
